We met on the first day of 8th grade, when his locker just happened to be right next to mine. He loves to say I swooned when he first said hello, but my actual first thought was, “Hmm, he seems weird.” Turns out, I wasn’t entirely wrong!
She wasn’t allowed to date in highschool, so our first official date didn’t happen until she was in college. Since then, we’ve spent summers boating and laughing, gotten sunburned in Mexico and Florida , and attempted to fit more excursions into all of our trips than there were days. Her graduation road trip to South Carolina involved an impressive amount of seafood and hours lying in the cold sand and of course more sight seeing. In Turkey, we got to share her favorite childhood places, introduce Riley to relatives, and enjoy plenty of boat rides. We even made a trip to Greece just to get gyros—because food is always a part of our adventures!
As for the proposal, I caught on a week beforehand. On Christmas Eve, he panicked when I said I was too tired for our annual Christmas light walk and suddenly he cared a lot about my neon pink tennis shoes. He proposed before our moms could hide in the bushes to take pictures, so we had to stage a few afterward. Even our proposal came with a little chaos, and we wouldn’t have it any other way!
